Ben Jewell

It was a blessing being surrounded by good trout water in central New Hampshire, where I grew up. I caught my first trout from little bog pond in the White Mountain National Forest where the ashes of my relatives lie. This cabin has been in my family for two generations and it is very dear to me. When I was learning to fly fish I spent most of my time on a fly fishing only stretch of water that flows out of Newfound Lake, where I spent my days chasing landlocked salmon during the winter with big streamers and matching the mayfly hatches on summer mornings and evenings. There is also a little creek at the headwaters of Mt. Cardigan where I have spent a lot of time catching eager little brookies.
The last five years I have spent 150+ days a year on the water in southwestern Montana and the Yellowstone drainage. I'm attempting to complete the Wyoming Cutt-slam for 2008. I am also in the process of writing my first book on fly fishing, which has me writing in a journal furiously. I also tie flies almost every day when I'm not fishing. I have been told by many people that I am obsessed with fly fishing. From Ben
2008 will mark Ben's second year guiding for PFS. You can say we were impressed in 2007. Right now he's spending the winter in Hawaii (working as well as playing), which ought to get him started on his guide tan right. From Walter
