This section of the PFS website includes a great deal of information to help plan your trip to the Yellowstone region, make the most out of the trip when you arrive, and simply to increase your angling and fly tying skills. Many of the pages in this section of the site are downloadable in PDF format. A free program to read these files is available from Adobe.
The Trip Planning pages include a great deal of information on effective trip planning for the Yellowstone region, ranging from a discussion of how the season impacts our fisheries to a list of clothes to bring. Extensive hatch charts, fly pattern and tackle suggestions, and a thorough guide to the most important waters in our area round out the Trip Planner. This planner is designed to complement Fishing Yellowstone National Park, by Richard Parks, and we suggest you consider purchasing this guidebook. Using the guidebook for detailed information on how to access a river or lake and for quick reference and the Trip Planning pages for detailed angling tips will give you a great head start on fishing the Yellowstone region, though of course a stop in a local flyshop (hopefully ours) can't be beat.
The Podcasts page includes downloadable mp3 files about fishing in the region. Podcasts may range from fishing tips to conservation news items. If there's a topic you think should be covered in a podcast, let us know.
The Videos page includes embedded versions of our three most recent Youtube fly tying videos, fly tying instructions for these three patterns, and a link to our Youtube page, where the rest of our fly tying videos (dating back to December 2009) can be found. If there's a fly you'd like us to demonstrate, whether it's one of our custom bugs or not, please let Walter Wiese know.
