Our staff have written four books (and counting) about fishing in the Yellowstone area. Please click one of the titles below for more details.
Welcome to the Parks' Fly Shop website. Our shop is located in Gardiner, Montana, within sight of the Yellowstone River and a quarter-mile from the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park. All the prime water within the Park, the blue-ribbon portion of the Yellowstone River, and many great private lakes and spring creeks are located within an easy drive, making us the most centrally-located fly shop and outfitter in the region.
The rivers and lakes of the Yellowstone region have been our obsessions and the guiding forces behind our business since 1953. We stock only flies & gear useful within fifty miles of our door, we designed and/or tie around half the flies we stock, and our guide service is a local one, focused on Yellowstone National Park, the Yellowstone River system, and portions of the upper Missouri River drainage rather than on fly fishing Montana as a whole. Our tight focus gives us unparalleled knowledge of local fisheries.
Give us a call at (406) 848-7314 to set up a guided Montana or Yellowstone fishing trip or check on river conditions. You can also contact us via the e-mail links at the bottom of each page of our site. We look forward to introducing you to the great fly fishing Yellowstone and southwest Montana have to offer.
As you explore our site, be aware that it's very text-heavy. We offer a lot of information on almost every page, and we did so intentionally. If you're the type of person who likes to dive into travel information, grab a cup of coffee and be ready to spend three or four hours going through our site, and please enjoy it!
Richard Parks is Montana outfitter #327. Walter Wiese is Montana outfitter #22001. We are licensed to guide in Yellowstone National Park, waters in the state of Montana under general regulations, and in the Gallatin National Forest. Contract outfitters are licensed on the Madison River. Walter is a USCG-licensed Captain authorized to run power boat trips on all inland waters of the United States.

The Yellowstone is in shape! Recent cold weather has caused the Yellowstone to drop into "green is good" color. It's still high and murky, but conditions are ideal for hunting big fish with streamers. We expect the river to blow out again tomorrow or Thursday, but it may come back in over the weekend. Thank recent cool temperatures and a forecast for more of the same for this late May fishing on the Yellowstone. We usually don't get it.
One of our primary guides just had to put his guiding season on hold due to personal reasons. We will therefore be short-staffed this year and our bookings are now exceedingly tight for large chunks of the summer. Please contact us ASAP if you would like to book a trip between Memorial Day and mid-September. Our bookings are particularly tight during the last week of June, second and third weeks of July, and last ten days of August.
