Area Fishing Links
Montana Streamflow Gauges: of particular note are the Upper Missouri and Upper Yellowstone drainages.
NRCS Snow-water table: our waters are the Upper Yellowstone drainage in Montana and the Yellowstone-Madison drainage in Wyoming.
Montana licenses online: if you don't want to wait until you get here to get your license, click this link.
Yellowstone Fly Fishing Blog: a good blog kept by a local angler.
Yellowstone Fly Fishing: a website with excerpts from Craig Matthews' and Charlie Brooks' books on fishing the Park. Notice the differences between what they have to say and what Richard has to say --experts have different opinions!
General Gardiner and Yellowstone Links
Yellowstone Raft Company: whitewater rafting on the Yellowstone and Gallatin rivers. There are other companies, but this is the oldest and most professional, and they have the longest standard trips, since they have permits to use access points the other companies do not.
North Fork Creek Outfitters: our favorite hunting outfitter in the area. They have a strong conservation ethic, unlike a few of the others. They also offer trail rides and horseback fishing trips into the upper Hellroaring and Slough Creek drainages.
Flying Pig Camp Store: Need camping supplies other than Bear Spray (we sell the same brand for less)? Here's your store.
National Park Service's Yellowstone Pages
Ralph Maughan's Wildlife Reports: updates on wolf and grizzly restorations, the controversial bison roundups, and other area conservation news.
Coolworks: want to work in or near Yellowstone or another national park? Coolworks is the premier seasonal employment jobs database in the country, and is based just north of Gardiner.
Other Fly Shops and Outfitters We Like
Murray's Fly Shop
Pat Straub's Montana Fishing Outfitters: Pat used to guide for us. Check him out if you're looking for a trip on the Missouri or Blackfoot.
Streamside Orvis: Streamside Orvis, in Traverse City, MI, offers guide service on some of Michigan's best rivers, in addition to instruction, the full line or Orvis merchandise, and a wide variety of outdoor clothing. They are also the only shop besides us to sell our "Magic Sauce" custom dry fly floatant.
General Flyfishing Links
Rocky Mountain Fly: Walter Wiese used to edit and occasionally contributes a column to this e-magazine.
Lodging in Gardiner
(Don't forget: custom guided fishing and lodging packages are available through our B&B, the Gardiner Guesthouse!)
Yellowstone River Motel: This is where W. Wiese's dad stays when he comes out. Nuff said.
Various other lodging options are available. See the Gardiner Chamber of Commerce link above.
