Introduction to Our Guide Service

Parks' Fly Shop has been in the guiding business since the shop's inception in 1953, longer than most guides in the area have been alive.  Ours is a small operation focused almost exclusively on the area within fifty miles of our front door.  This narrow focus gives us an unparalleled knowledge of the rivers and lakes on which we guide.

We offer float trips, walk trips on public water, and walk trips on the famous Paradise Valley private spring creeks.  Half-day and full-day options are available for all trips, and we'd be pleased to help you plan a multi-day booking exploring the many options available.  We run our float trips exclusively on the blue ribbon Yellowstone River, usually between Gardiner and Livingston.  We run most of our walk trips on one or more of the many public streams and lakes inside Yellowstone National Park, and there are several options outside the Park for clients with specialized interests, as well.  We offer private water trips on all three Paradise Valley creeks, though different guides specialize in different creeks.

In addition to our standard guide trips, we can put together custom programs for groups ranging from individuals to a dozen people.  These programs can range from half-day fly fishing schools for older children to week-long guiding/lodging packages in cooperation with the Gardner Guesthouse or other area lodging options for corporate groups.

Please click the links to your left for more information on a specific type of trip or to acquaint yourself with our guide staff.  If you have other questions or want to talk about scheduling a trip, e-mail us or give us a call.

To book a trip, please call.  We take all reservations by hand over the phone, so there's no possibility of any sort of technological mixup resulting in a trip that somehow doesn't make it onto our calendar.

Please note that the rates above do not include additional access fees for the Paradise Valley spring creeks.  Shoulder season rates apply from roughly March 1 until the day before the YNP opener and from October 25 until roughly November 15.  Rate is for one or two anglers.  Three angler trips and half-days are not available.

*Parties of more than two anglers per guide are only possible on walk & wade trips. We strongly encourage a ratio of one or two clients per guide on all trips.  This dramatically increases the guide's efficiency and results in much more personal attention for each client.  In addition, many of our waters are not suitable for more than two anglers at a time, so destinations for large parties may be limited.
